Construction Industry Scheme Deferred

HM Revenue & Customs have agreed to defer the overhaul of the Construction Industry Scheme for a year to 5 April 2007.

Holders of CIS cards will therefore be able to renew them for a further year.

Minimum Wage

This has been increased with effect from 1 October as follows:

• workers aged 22 and over - raised to £5.05 an hour from £4.85
• training rate aged 22 and over - raised to £4.25 an hour from £4.10
• 18-21 year olds - raised to £4.25 an hour from £4.10
• 16-17 year olds - still £3.00 an hour
